We Are Specialized BackUp When You Need It
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and provide EMDR for clients. I am a lifelong resident of Rockford, graduating from Boylan Central Catholic High School, Rock Valley College, Western Illinois University, and Argosy University. I retired after 21 years with the Rockford Police Department where I was a K9 handler, housing authority officer, and a field training officer.
I specialize in trauma for first responders. I have experience working with adults in the areas of substance abuse, grief, trauma, mental health, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and family issues. I have worked in a variety of settings including non-profit, law enforcement, fire and EMS, crisis situations, critical incidents, and residential settings. I am experienced working with first responders – law enforcement, corrections, firefighters, EMS, dispatch, corrections, nursing, local, state, and federal officers and agencies, as well as veterans.
I am passionate about working with others to obtain their full potential in life and I believe that our past does not have to define us. In out first responder jobs, we have no problems calling for backup- calling mayday or officer needs assistance, more equipment, outside agencies, specialized personnel such as detectives, supervisors, utility company personnel, coroners, extrication, medics/ambulance, SWAT, K9, high angle rescue and others. But we can hesitate when it comes to asking for backup for our own mental wellness. Think of me as backup. Help yourself. You have to help yourself if you are going to be healthy enough to help others.
I work with individuals and some couples. I also provide Wellness Checks for Law Enforcement Agencies. I am part of several Critical Incident Stress Management teams- these are provided on an emergency basis. Please reach out immediately so I can activate the proper team for immediate assistance.
When not at work, I enjoy hunting, fishing, scuba diving, hiking, and being in nature with my family.
